


At the heart of the Piney Lakes Sensory Play Park Amphitheatre is a bespoke tower with multiple climbing platforms and entry points, designed to engage children of all abilities, from those with sensory sensitivities to those seeking more physically challenging play.

This incredible project was led by the City of Melville, who engaged Nature Play Solutions to undertake the design and construction, with play equipment collaboratively designed by landscape architects from City of Melville and lyPa.

Shirley Strickland Reserve

The Strickland Tower serves as the focal point of the Shirley Strickland Reserve play space, offering a carefully curated selection of play equipment that encourages risk-taking, balance, and imaginative play.
This custom-designed play structure is tailored to meet the developmental needs of children while offering exciting opportunities for physical activity, social interaction, and creativity.


Thorndon Park Reserve

The customised design for the Thorndon Skywalker required the bridge connecting the two towers to span over the circulation pathway & allow enough clearance for play space users to pass underneath.
​
The structural elements are galvanised steel, with timber bush pole cladding fixed to the vertical inground posts to retain the natural aesthetic character of the climber.
​
The taller tower contains a series of scrambling platforms to the ground plane and the shorter tower includes a vertical net tube climb and talking tubes.
Pia's Place Whiteman Park

Working closely with our sister company, Nature Play Solutions, lyPa designed a number of bespoke play items for Pia’s Place in Whiteman Park.
​
This included a Lighthouse with tube slide, constructed predominantly of steel frame and perforated steel panels.
We also created on-ground & raised nest climbers, an extra-long concrete embankment slide & a timber scramble with rope. A Ship Climber & Wagon Cubby were also designed to reflect the pioneering heritage of the area.

Noah’s Tower Rosehill Waters Estate

When the the landscape design for Rosehill Waters Estate was being undertaken, we were commissioned to provide a design & construct package for the play space. The main tower/bridge structure was a late addition to the project, at the request of the client, & was fabricated off-site & craned into place in its various pieces.
The link bridges in this project were an innovative design that allowed for suspension bridges at height with fall risks eliminated. Play features in the climber included three tower structures, enclosed suspension link bridges, a 3.5m high tube slide, net climbing structure, 2 climbing towers.

Coombs Edgeworth Playground

Approached by the lead Landscape Architects, we created a highly detailed, bespoke climber for a play space the Coombs Edgeworth residential precinct in Canberra. We worked to ensure that the Landscape Architect's vision for the climber was executed, as evidenced in the final product. This included custom painted colour highlights throughout, a bespoke nest structure at the apex of the climber & extended tunnel connections linking back to lookouts at different levels of the park.
The design also included balance beams and logs, sand play table, talking tubes and a rain wheel.


Yingkapayi Park

Yingkapayi (pronounced yin-gu-bay) in local Language means ‘to play’. Yingkapayi Park was initiated through a community led drive to upgrade the previous playground to a more interactive nature-based play area. Significant input from the community, in particular the Wangkatha people, is reflected in the design of the play space.
The bespoke Tower with tube slide was designed to integrate with the custom rope challenge. Large concrete eggs, double as seating & play features, prompt imaginative play & are intended to spark interest in outback fauna &extinct megafauna of the area.

Shade shelters were designed to fit with the aesthetic of the play space and custom play equipment.
Shannon Reserve
Location: Surrey Hills, NSW

This colourful playground was built to reflect the vibrant Surry Hills neighbourhood.
​
The tower design was developed with the lead Landscape Architects, in collaboration with the City & incorporates two sections joined by a sturdy rope bridge. The towers are topped with perforated panels that have LED strip lighting, ensuring the playground is as beautiful at night-time as it is during the day.
​
The project also incorporated our custom-made concrete slide, timber clambering ramp, clustered balance poles &stainless steel talking tubes.


Dubbo Regional Botanic Gardens

The play space was designed to enhance the visitor experience at the Regional Botanic Gardens & the majority of the play equipment was designed specifically for this project.
The Hillbilly climber was the largest of the pieces included in the design & has three pods set at different heights up a significant embankment. The pods are joined with enclosed, interconnecting suspension bridges & a range of net-climbing structures providing a range of play opportunities.

Wilfred Taylor Reserve

A Possum themed climber was developed by lyPa for Wilfred Taylor Reserve, within the City of Onkaparinga. Various net and rope challenges formed this journey-like design, along with ‘nest’ like structures and a tube slide.
For the farmed themed section of the play space we worked with the lead Landscape Architect to develop the farm-themed junior climber, which referenced a local historical farm, a bespoke Tractor climber & a variety of smaller farm themed items such as a Sheep Rocker.


Bloomdale Digger's Rest

Engaged by Victorian-based CDA Design Group lyPa was tasked with designing a standout play structure that caters to all age groups for the Bloomdale housing development in Diggers Rest.
Our team worked closely with CDA and Bild Landscapes, traveling interstate to complete the remote installation of this expansive and versatile play tower, alongside other pieces of play equipment selected from our off-the-shelf range.
Wickepin Water Tower

Located in the heart of Wickepin’s town centre, the Wickepin Water Tower is an iconic play structure that combines visual impact with exciting play opportunities. Inspired by the town’s historic water tower, the design of this structure reflects the grandeur of its predecessor, incorporating a challenging tower climb paired with a thrilling tube slide descent.
The tower is built on a galvanized steel frame, clad with durable weld mesh, and accented with fine hardwood timber, creating a striking focal point in the play space.


Mineral Resources Early Learning

For this unique project, lyPa worked alongside sister company Nature Play Solutions, to design bespoke play equipment for Milieu Creative’s transformation of a pre-existing office building into a dynamic early childhood facility.
The project centred on designing custom play equipment with a mining theme that promotes creativity, exploration, and learning while ensuring safety and durability.
Perth Zoo Gibbons

lyPa was engaged by Perth Zoo to create an entry artwork and multiple interpretive devices for their new Gibbons exhibit. We worked closely with the Zoo’s Interpretation Coordinator to understand the brief and requirements for the pieces. The designs had to consider the Gibbons habitation of the surrounding space and be sensitive to their needs to not affect their natural behaviour patterns.
The designs integrate playful, interactive elements to encourage visitors to pause and engage with the pieces during their visit. These include mirror ‘disappearing Gibbons’ in the tree canopy and hidden Gibbon faces within the Entry Artwork.
